Hansel was a Navy pilot and then a professional pilot for United before becoming a business executive at Norden Systems, Inc. He became President of Pratt and Whitney Government Engine division and then CEO of Raytheon. In 2001, he joined the boards of Corning and Ryder System, Inc., both via referral. Hansel has also served on the boards of Harris Information Technical Services, Nextra Engineering, and FPL Group Inc. His training is in physics, aeronautical systems, and business administration.
