HEAR THE VOICES OF 100 LEADING BLACK DIRECTORS
Empowering aspiring Black professionals to achieve their full potential regarding serving on corporate boards
OUR VISION
The Voices of 100 Leading Black Directors is a video archive project consisting of 100 interviews of leading black directors conducted by Barry Lawson Williams primarily for educational purposes. The video archive documents the corporate board experiences, insights, and perspectives of leading black directors reflecting gender, tenure, industry, and geography. The goal of this project is to inspire more minority candidates to aspire to and prepare for board service. The project’s goals are also to encourage minority candidates from non traditional sources such as the military, higher education and government to do likewise. The project is being shared with aspiring minority candidates; sitting and retired CEOs and corporate directors; executive search firms; and institutional investors and regulatory bodies.
The interviews are comprised of 4 main parts:
1. A collection of updated views on the value of board diversity
2. A playbook for preparing for and selecting especially your first board
3. A roadmap for becoming more effective on corporate boards
4. Some perspectives and recommendations on increasing minority board representation
